There are almost 400 accredited institutions of higher education spread throughout Florida. Florida is extremely dedicated to serving distance learning students, even offering a tuition-free online K-12 program rather than charging for it as most states do. Forty of the online colleges based in Florida work in tandem with an organization called Florida Virtual Campus, or FLVC. What FLVC has set out to do is provide education support employing services through universities, or directly to prospective students to make sure that anyone who should want to earn an online degree in Florida can do so.

The University of West Florida’s Division of Research and Strategic Innovation are the administrators of Florida Virtual Campus, and they offer 19 online degree programs in a broad range of areas of study. FLVC also orchestrates the Florida Shines program which has a similar goal, but also goes above and beyond to empower students and residents to earn degrees, secure careers, and achieve their aspirations. Through Florida Shines, prospective students can find online degree programs or courses, monitor their transcripts, and even apply for jobs once they’ve earned their degree. It is evident that Florida, and schools throughout the state, are incredibly dedicated to the success of distance-learning students.

Florida State University offers students nine online degree programs, the University of Florida offers more than 50, and amazingly, Nova Southeastern University offers a total of 146 such programs.
